  • Feb 2015 - May 2015: Research intern, Médecins du Monde Cairo. My task was the interviewing, participant observation, data analysis, and writeup of the results of the project 'Improving access to mental health services for at-risk populations in Greater Cairo'.
  • Sep 2014 - Dec 2014: Research intern, Mental Health Unit, World Health Organization Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office (EMRO), Cairo. My task was the preliminary development of a curriculum for the region's first Leadership in Mental Health course, which has been running annually since 2015.


Teaching Experience

  • Feb 2023 - present: Honorary Clinical Lecturer in Psychiatry, University of Glasgow. I deliver a yearly lecture to the autumn semester of the MSc in Global Mental Health, in addition to marking MSc theses.
  • Sep 2013 - Sep 2015: Teaching Assistant in Psychology, American University in Cairo. I taught undergraduate students on the following courses: Introduction to Psychological Statistics, Research Methods in Psychology, Introduction to Community Psychology.
  • I am regularly involved in both didactic and bedside teaching for University of Glasgow medical students undertaking their psychiatry placement.
