Amey's a engineering company involved with Transport Scotland and other areas. During my time working for Amey I learnt and got involved in different aspects of the company from going on site to marking cores on the ground, going on site to carry out a VCS( visual condition survey), to coming back on site and drawing up VCS on excel, creating an SOI (Statement Of Intent) on the scheme visited to much more. The tasks I was giving allowed me to apply problem-solving skills and use critical thinking to resolve challenges and also prioritise workload to meet stringent deadlines. Having to prioritise the workload resulted in me developing good time management skills and managing time effectively. Throughout my time at Amey, I participated in staff meetings regularly to discuss latest developments and updates across the workload. Working on things in the office and especially going on site for different reasons meant I had to worked productively with team members to achieve goals and deadlines.
During my time working for the NHS as a call operator I had multiple different roles from working on the Covid pass line, Covid Vaccination booking line and the General Enquires line. Regardless of what line I was working on it involved me answering calls from members of the public regarding any inquires they had. Thereafter trying my best to resolve their issue while remaining patient and empathetic. This job involved me working from home and using my own computer and headset, in line with a work rota that was provided at the end of the week for the following week.
My role during my time as an NHS call operator during covid times also required me to understand the government guidelines and be able to communicate this in a manner that is helpful and clear to people of different background and nationalities who required assistance. During my time as a call operator my multitasking skills and team working skills improved as I had multiple task to carry out while answering calls. My team working skills improved as i had to work with others in a manner while the best service is provided during such a difficult time. As working well together in a team during a tough time is the only way things would be done smoothly and efficiently.
