Leadership / Teaching Positions

1. Anatomy Demonstrator for Oxford Medical Students at the University of Oxford Medical School [January 2023 - December 2024] > Taught and Guided Year 3 Medical Students through Various Neuroanatomy Curriculum Modules: Gross Anatomy, Bloody Supply, Cranial Nerves, Peripheral Nervous System, Spinal Cord etc.].


2. RCSEd Representative and Committee Member of Oxford Foundation Trainee Surgical Society [September 2022 - Present]. The society offers a platform for foundation doctors considering surgical careers to organize educational events, workshops and conferences to develop their understanding of surgical training pathways. This society/position plays an important role in connecting surgically inclined foundation doctors in the region to their surgical goals and career pathways. Through this leadership role, I was able to contribute in designing and organising a series of national events and programs, including National CST Interview Preparatory Sessions, National MRCS Part A Preparatory Teaching Courses, National Foundation Trainee Surgical Conferences and National Surgical Simulation and Skills Training.


3. Specialist Advisor for the Neurosurgical Segment of the Royal College of Surgeons England’s Specialty Updates Section for 2024-2026. The Specialist Advisor panel provides professional knowledge, expertise and advice in relation to the content of the Specialty Updates in a particular surgical specialty or sub-specialty [In this case, Neurosurgery].


4. Facilitator and Organiser for the Thames Valley MedVis Virtual Simulation Program. Duration/Frequency: 3-Hour Monthly Sessions for 10 months [2022-2023]. Audience: Final Year Medical Students at Oxford University. Subject Matter: I worked with local tutors to organize, lead and deliver this regional simulation program designed to systematically run through emergency scenarios with final year medical students preparing them for life on the wards and guide them through the systematic management of acute medical/surgical emergencies.

1. “An Update on a Persisting Challenge: a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of the Risk Factors for Surgical Site Infection Post Craniotomy” American Journal of Infection Control (AJIC) (Volume 52, Issue 6, June 2024, Pages 650-658). Joint 1st Author – Responsible for Study Design, Literature   Review, Data Collection, Data Analysis and Manuscript Writing.


2. “Atrial Septal Defects and Genetic Linkages: A Narrative Literature Review” Cyprus Journal of Cardiovascular Medicine (Volume 1, Issue 1, Pages 3-11) 1st Author – Responsible for Study Design, Literature Review, Data Collection, Data Analysis and Manuscript Writing. Jan 2022.


3. Research Lead [Oxford] and Collaborator for the National Risk of Aneurysm Rupture [ROAR] Study. National Multi-Centre Study across the United Kingdom. Aims: 1. To validate the accuracy of the PHASES score at predicting 5 year rupture risk. 2. To develop a rupture risk prediction model incorporating additional variables. 3. To determine the pattern of rupture risk beyond 5 years.


4. International Oral Presentation – "The Next Generation - Inspiring a Future Career in Cancer”. First Author and Presenter. "International Careers in Cancer Conference - 2021" hosted by Cancer Research UK - 2021.


5. National Oral Presentation – "Quality of Surgical Clinical Handovers: A Prospective Audit and QIP” – Lead Presenter and Project Head. Selected to present my 2-Cycle Surgical Audit Project that I lead, designed, data-collected, analysed and implemented. Wrote and delivered presentation covering aims, methodology, findings and analysis of the project and answered questions from the audience. Won a national “Best Surgical Audit Presentation Award”. RCSEd’s 21st National QI and Audit Symposium at Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh. 2023.


6. National Oral Presentation – "Quality of Consent Form Completion for Laparoscopic Cholecystectomies: A Prospective Audit” –  Lead Presenter and Project Head. Selected to present my 2-Cycle Surgical Audit Project that I lead, designed, data-collected, analysed and implemented. Wrote and delivered presentation covering aims, methodology, findings and analysis of the project. RCSEd's National Oxford Surgical Symposium 2022 at Wadham College, University of Oxford. 2022.

Practical and Psychomotor Skills

1. Scuba Diving - Obtained Scuba Diving License [PADI Open Water] at the age of 15 and ever since have completed more than 50 dives across the world [Egypt, Jordan, Oman, Cyprus etc.]. Duration of Commitment: 10 years [2014-Present]. Transferrable Skills Acquired: Steadiness, Remaining Calm and Rational in Unusual Circumstances, Communication and Problem-Troubleshooting.


2. Volleyball - Captain of Local University Volleyball Team. Duration of Commitment: 6 Years [2016-2022]. Participated in multiple national and international tournaments, competing against university teams across different regions and countries.  Transferrable Skills Acquired: Leadership, Hand-Eye Coordination, Resilience and Sportsmanship.


3. Guitar Player and Online Coach/Instructor. Obtained Grade 6 LCME Certification and currently coaching juniors through early fundamentals of guitar playing. Duration of Commitment: 14 Years [2010 – Present]. Transferrable Skills Acquired: Fine Motor Skills, Hand-Eye Coordination, Attention to Detail, Patience, Problem Solving, Communication and Leadership.
