  • Coordinating support around South Pacific, African and LGBTIQA+ Communities to improve Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) treatment outcomes for young people and their families.
  • Working collaboratively in a consortium with two other Youth AOD organisations to ensure young people and families are provided with intersectional care that address their identified needs. Including family counselling, support and parenting interventions.
  • Contributing and participating in community engagement initiatives and events to establish a strong relationship with community members in aims to increase more access and self-referrals. Events such as Samoan Independence day, Community and LGBTIQA+ parades, Pacific Island Womens Health and Equity Day, Sports Holiday programs and Youth Festivals etc.
  • Utilising a Whole of Family Approach as opposed to an individual centered approach and offer respite and service navigation for family members supporting the young person who might experience substance misuse and/or mental health issues.

  • Facilitating group work as well as 1 on 1 sessions to provide AOD psychoeducation, prevention and harm reduction strategies, such as facilitating supported access to Needle Exchange and distribution of Naloxone, after completion of appropriate training.
  • Monitoring and ensuring program fidelity, contributing to evaluation and facilitating continuous improvement. Facilitation of capacity building for senior AOD practitioners from the service and from partner organisations in the sector, with particular focus on working with CALD communities.
  • Offering secondary consultations in case review and care team meeting spaces to provide insight of lived experience and worldviews as a member of the pasifika community.
  • Working in Schools and offering general psychoeducation around vaping and harm reduction startegies as well as building capacity of school teachers and wellbeing staff to help remove stigmatization and increase understanding of functions of use.
