  • Designed and checked propping, retention and temporary support schemes, including façade retention and jacking, floor and metal deck propping, hoist and tower crane bases, grillages, pile caps and piling solutions.
  • Undertook structural analysis and design of reinforced concrete and steel elements, including slabs, beams, steel members, connections, lintels, needle beams and masonry openings, with consideration of stability, imperfections, cracking, temperature effects, wind loading and construction-stage loading.
  • Performed FEA and global structural stability assessments, including concrete core modelling, building stability analysis and detailed assessment of steel members and connections.
  • Assessed construction and plant loading, including excavators, mobile cranes, tippers, scaffolding, material stockpiling and other site-specific loads, developing practical solutions to safely accommodate construction activities.
  • Designed specialist structures including floating car park slabs, timber steps and ramps, hoardings, façade retention systems and temporary works associated with complex basement and demolition schemes.
  • Applied a range of structural analysis methodologies, including shear theory, strut-and-tie analysis, plastic analysis and finite element modelling, in accordance with relevant Eurocodes and British Standards.
  • Worked closely with site and project teams to coordinate designs, resolve construction issues and prevent delays, adapting solutions where appropriate to utilise materials and resources already available on site, reducing waste and project costs.
  • Supported the development of graduates and apprentices, providing technical guidance on design tasks and explaining structural engineering concepts to develop their technical understanding and design capability.
