I started my motor trade experience at carnel motor group,their ongoing training was second to none,I attended courses throughout my sixteen years with them where I started as trainee sales and then running the busiest used car site within the group,at this time we was averaging 130 cars per month with respectable profit per unit from the car and additional items obviously creating more revenue for the department whilst maintaining customer satisfaction,over seeing 9 salesmen and 4 administration staff very busy department,we all worked extremely hard month in and month out to hit are targets which we did consistently.

  • All aspects of running a business including purchasing stock,liaising with other companies in relation to the preparation of the vehicles,advertising them,dealing with finance applications,building rapport with customers which creates trust and then most of the time leads into a sale and more importantly repeat business,advertising the vehicles,adhering to all fca requirements dealing with major finance companies,getting involved with any customers issues which may arise,oragsnising end of year accounts,I have been in the motor trade all of my life and have seen changes from all aspects of the job but their is one thing which has stayed the same people buy of people they like and that's a fact,my repeat business is the highest in the industry my closure rate is highest in the industry and that's because people buy of people who they get on with.

  • I have spent my entire life dealing with the public, where you meet people from all walks of life,this itself cannot be taught it's all down to experience It can be hard work at times, but I find it challenging to meet new people whom you have never met before, and then to build a rapport at the same time taking control of the sales process,building a rapport creates trust, and then potentially leads to a sale I have spent 36 years in the motor industry, which comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience, with a professional approach to all aspects of running a busy used car department I will be an asset to any used car operation; my goals would be to increase revenue, look to reduce expenditure, and focus on repeat business and customer satisfaction Social media plays a huge part in creating interest now, so this would have to be on the agenda to address Presentation of the products and repeat business would just be a few items where I would want to focus, as well as the stock profile,more importantly customer retention and recommendations

Additional Information

The job of retailing cars have changed quite a lot over the years in a number of ways,but their is one crucial part which in my opinion is customers buy of people who they get on with,quite simple really and if you focus in relationship building during the sales process your half way there.
