Surgery-oriented role with pre-, intra- and post-op duties.

• Initial history taking, full systemic examination, diagnosis and management planning
• Resuscitation of acutely unwell patients
• Order & interprete investigations including bloods, ECGs, imaging
• Perform procedures including securing IV access, urethral catheterization, chest drain maintenance
• Discuss patient management with supervising consultant and send consults to relevant teams including anaesthesiologists
• Scrub in and assist in both major and minor surgical procedures
• Review post-op patients and carry out post-op plans
• Perform discharge planning including discharge prescriptions & follow-up scheduling.

This involved rotations in Surgical and Medical Departments.

• Full pre-, intra- and post-op patient care
• Pre-op care included full initial history and systemic examination, ordering relevant investigations, minor procedures such as securing IV access, urethral catheterization, and patient resuscitation where necessary
• Occasionally scrubbed-in and assisted in surgical procedures
• Post-op patient review, discharge and follow-up planning
• Discussing with supervisor about patient care, and facilitating relevant consults

• Rotated through Surgery, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, and Paediatric specialties.
• Performed diligent surgical care tasks including pre-operative evaluation, operative management and post-operative care.
• Ordered and interpreted investigations from bloods to imaging, utilising exceptional communication skills to provide relevant findings to patients.
• Expertly managed caseloads of up to 30+ patients per shift.
• Safely prescribed and administered medications including analgesia, intravenous fluids and antibiotics.
• Distributed patient medications at established times and in correct dosages.
