Key responsibilities:

• Lead acute medical take on AMU/SDEC/ED: triage referrals, assess complex patients, prioritise investigations and early management, and escalate appropriately as first medical registrar oncall.
• Ward work: deliver senior reviews on wards, coordinate patient flow/outliers, optimise meds, plan discharges, and complete clear documentation/TTOs.
• Clinics: run general medicine and specialty follow-up clinics (e.g., respiratory, cardiology, diabetes/endocrine); review results, safety-net, and complete clinic letters.
• Supervise/teach IMT/FY doctors and ACPs; provide bedside teaching/feedback and complete WBAs (Mini-CEX/CbD/DOPS).
• Manage deteriorating patients using NEWS2 and sepsis bundles; attend peri-arrest/cardiac arrest calls (ALS-aligned).
• Coordinate MDT handover (SBAR) with ED, ICU/HDU, specialty teams and site/bed managers to maintain safe flow.
• Contribute to governance & QI (audit cycles, M&M, guideline implementation) and maintain e-portfolio evidence towards ARCP.

Returned to training after maternity leave to complete my IMT2 year in Royal Blackburn Hospital -in Diabetes and Endocrinology department

• Manage ward patients day-to-day: review plans, prescribe safely, order/interpret investigations, and complete timely documentation & discharge summaries.
• Participate in the acute take, medical out-of-hours rota (evenings/nights/weekends), and rapid response for deteriorating patients using NEWS2 and sepsis pathways.
• Communicate and coordinate care within the MDT (nurses, AHPs, pharmacists) and liaise with specialty teams, ED, ICU/HDU, and primary care.
• Contribute to safe handovers using SBAR and trust protocols; ensure continuity of care and clear follow-up plans.
• Teach and support medical students/rotational colleagues; present cases in board rounds and clinical meetings.

• Trauma Surgery Rotation for 2 weeks- Reviewing Trauma patients in ER, conducting Primary, Secondary and tertiary surveys, performing relevant procedures: NGT, Catheterization, Suturing, Chest Tube, CPR, Intubation, IV cannulation and venipuncture (some under supervision), Reading trauma CT and managing patient accordingly, observing/ assisting in trauma surgeries.
• Anesthesia Rotation for 2 weeks – Understanding the mechanism of action of anaesthesia medications, performing General anaesthesia and Spinal anaesthesia under supervision of the consultant, managing all the complications of anaesthesia, conducting a pre- surgery assessment of the patient and following up with the patient in the recovery room.
