This job provided the experience of running a bar independently until being promoted to manager. This position came with these responsibilities: stock take, keg and gas changes, deliveries, training, recruitment, seasonal promotions, customer service, rota creation, cash handling, general maintenance and more. Cultivating strong relationships with customers helped to secure repeat business.
I enjoyed serving classic cocktails in a busy late-night venue, at the bar or providing table service. The training included: knowledge of the laws regarding the service of alcohol in a premises, bar efficiency and overall presentation.
In a busy drive-thru store, I was often serving customers, cars, and online orders simultaneously. I designed aesthetic advertising displays throughout the store, on notice boards and windows, for each of the new seasonal promotions. I also built upon my previous experience in creating latte art.
Here, I learned the essentials of crafting each type of coffee, factoring importance of catering to an individual’s needs by understanding cross-contamination risks. I discovered how to complement regional coffee flavours with food and work in a team proficiently, to maintain high morale and an effective workflow.
