  • Overall responsibility for the Finance and IT departments managing 13 staff (10 finance and 3 IT). A member of the senior management team on site and a director of the company
  • Marigold Industrial Malaysia was part of the Comasec group of companies with the head office in Paris and several other subsidiaries across the world, with Marigold Malaysia supplying those companies.
  • The Malaysian site was the largest in the group, Over an acre in size and producing around 80 million pairs of gloves annually with approximately 1,000 employees.
  • I had full responsibility for all aspects of finance and IT, including KPI implementation and monitoring, monthly and annual financial and management reporting, change management, fixed assets, product costing, treasury, purchase ledger, sales ledger, statutory accounts, management accounts, relationships with banks and external auditors, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, cashflow etc
  • I reported to the Group Finance Director based in Paris and the Managing Director on site.


The Comasec group was acquired by Ansell, a large multinational group of companies, and the world leader in hand and arm protection and although I was asked to stay on, I took the opportunity to head back to the UK and start my own practice.

Financial Controller

  • Overall responsibility for the Finance function and deputising for the General Manager
  • Challenging product pricing assumptions and monitoring of product and customer margins, maximize cash collection and maintain financial controls
  • Marigold Industrial UK was a part of the Comasec Group, taken over by Ansell and subsequently closed. Annual Turnover was approximately £15 million and employed 13 staff.
  • Reviewed annual financial statements, collaborating with audit partners to produce statutory accounts.
  • Oversaw accounting, payroll and financial reports to support daily managed FX trades with head office in Paris to meet local and group working capital requirements.
  • Produced management information and KPI measurement through variance analysis.
  • Oversaw bank reconciliations and managed short-term working capital, including credit control.
  • Led audit engagements, serving as primary point of contact for audit-related queries in UK.
  • Worked with executives to create annual budget and track actual expenses against projected expenses.
  • Oversaw and approved monthly management accounts, contributing to strategic decision-making.
  • Initially the role was encompassing the USA Comasec subsidiary whilst a local accountant was recruited
  • This was subsequently replaced with more group responsibility, particularly decision making in terms of whether to manufacture or outsource particular products and other group supply chain issues.
  • Covered the role of Group Financial Controller in France for 12 months, covering maternity.
