As a trained artist and independent film maker, I have been doing creative projects in between my teaching. This was also the case throughout the pandemic, when there was no work available. I have found it also informs my teaching in a creative way.
As a language freak, I have enjoyed personalising and customising my private lessons to suit the requirements and level of my students. I also invented word games and role plays to aid comprehension of grammar, etc. I have also taught heads of companies and in house staff one to one tutoring in Berlin, where I was also required to speak fluent German.
In this role, I was teaching both international refugees and Germans who were re-taking school exams later in life. Many students had learning difficulties, behavioural challenges, as well as trauma and culture shock (refugees). I taught all levels and abilities as well as some students who had no English at all.
I wrote and marked exams, gave feedback,assessed students' levels and attended conferences to discuss exam marks, etc.

We followed a specially designed programme for students to learn an instrument, or to sing. We held regular sessions and workshops in Berlin Neukoelln,, and also visited schools to teach and give concerts to showcase children's work. We studied many aspects of pedagogic theory, including engagement, encouragement, and feedback, as well as team building.
