Work experience June 2018
Penningtons Manches Cooper
About the role
Over the years I have been placed in a variety of roles, often short notice; requiring me to adapt and confidently assert myself in the position as required.
These positions ranged from warehouse operative, to front of house in restaurants to name but a few. As this was agency work these positions often did not have training so a large part of this role it to take initiative so as to do a good job.
About the role
Working under pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail
The position was based on a commission-only structure, presenting that the level of diligence and effort directly correlated to the output and rewards. Attention to detail was significant, as it involved building and maintaining rapport with individual customers, with the intention of cultivating relationships for the benefit of the company. These critical skills underpinned my ability to excel and achieve high-level performance in this role
Initiative and self- motivation
Operating within a highly competitive environment offered an opportunity to not only maximise individual sales outcomes, but also cultivated collaborative efforts with colleagues to ensure optimal company-wide sales performance. Due to the nature of the role any issues I was faced with it was my responsibility to rectify them myself.
Events and bar management. ‘Drinks and Flair’
Assuming the role as manager, my responsibilities encompassed not only the set-up and training of new personnel, but also upholding the high standards of service for which we were known. Frequently, our team of as few as three staff members was tasked with managing private events attended by over 400 guests. It was incumbent upon me to establish and maintain the most effective structure to ensure that each event ran smoothly. Although the events primarily included weddings, I also managed a larger body of staff in events such as Grosvenor House, London.
