Working on Princes Street honed my efficiency in speed and accuracy while maintaining composure under steady pressure. I ensured a clean and tidy workspace in line with Black Sheep’s policies and completed a three-day training course on allergen management and customer safety. My ability to multitask was crucial in this role, as I consistently made quick decisions, responded to customers and team members, and focused on completing orders to the highest standard. Additionally, I trained new staff members in coffee-making techniques, including grinding, steaming, and latte art, with patience and encouragement.
During my time at Laila's restaurant in the heart of Edinburgh, I developed valuable skills as both a barista and a front-of-house team member, with some experience in preparing cocktails. I seamlessly transitioned between roles, ensuring customer satisfaction remained my top priority. If issues arose, I resolved them quickly and professionally. Working in a high-pressure environment, especially during the Fringe festival, I maintained calm and composure, efficiently collaborating with my team during peak times. I adapted well to new specialty coffees and cocktails introduced every few months, recognizing the importance of teamwork and knowing when to ask for help to deliver the best possible service. My ability to work under pressure, combined with a commitment to excellent customer service, is a key strength I bring to every workplace.

This role required weekly, independent cleaning of the property. Making up the beds, deep cleaning the bathrooms and replenishing key items were consistent tasks I completed. Due to Covid regulations, I was trained to effectively clean all areas in order for the guaranteed safety of the new guests. This role also encouraged my development of effective time management as I would need to provide a thorough service in good time before the guests would be arriving.
Being a waitress in this popular wedding venue hotel constantly required multi- tasking and keeping calm under pressure as well as the ability to use my own judgement. This was my initial training to a barista position and I was trained to use a professional espresso machine and become accustomed to the basic coffee and hot drink options. Teamwork was a key element to the job due to helping my colleagues in stressful environments. Long hours in the shift we're not a problem as I can keep motivation levels high throughout, staying polite and enthusiastic.
