Delivering direct, consistent support for emotional regulation in children and young people with SEMH needs.
Using de-escalation strategies to safely manage distress and prevent escalation.
Building trusting, therapeutic relationships with students to support engagement and wellbeing.
Supporting and implementing individual behaviour support plans.
Recognising and responding to early signs of anxiety, dysregulation, or distress.
Working closely with students over time to support emotional development and resilience.
Maintaining professional boundaries while providing empathetic, child-centred support.
Managing a structured intervention environment supporting students to regulate and re-engage with learning.
Facilitating restorative conversations to promote reflection, accountability, and productive change.
Supporting reintegration back into lessons following emotional or behavioural disruption.

Providing individualised 1:1 support to meet specific learning, behavioural, and emotional needs.
Developing a working understanding of EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans) and using them to guide support strategies.
Adapting communication styles to suit different developmental levels and neurodiverse profiles.
Supporting students’ access to education by reducing barriers to engagement.
Working as part of a multi-disciplinary school team to support student outcomes.
Applying knowledge of safeguarding practices and training within an educational setting.
Supporting students with routine, structure, and transitions throughout the school day.
