I am a qualified Teacher with 17 years of experience, adept at developing bespoke training packages, coaching and leading SEND in mainstream settings. I demonstrate a proven ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with professionals, while driving change and facilitating others to achieve their potential. I am skilled in having challenging conversations with stakeholders, maintaining a child-centred approach, and working independently on my own initiative.
My role 2 days per week involves visiting a caseload of primary schools to provide advice, coaching and training to teachers as well as carrying out English intervention groups with children using EAL. For the other 1.5 days of the week I work in conjunction with Brighton and Hove Virtual School to manage and coordinate the education of unaccompanied asylum seeking young people both at secondary and and post 16. I ensure the young people are receiving the support they need in terms of English tuition and internal provision, advise schools on good practice, hold them accountable for providing a service that meets a young person's needs and chair regular multi agency PEP meetings.
I was Reception class teacher, responsible for teaching the Early Years Curriculum and ensuring that my class made excellent progress in all areas throughout the year. I was also SEND Lead Teacher, mainly in charge of staff development and training. I was tasked with coaching members of staff to suggest strategies for children with SEND and delivering INSET training on various subjects such as sensory needs and social stories. I also was Lead Teacher for English, meaning that I was responsible for collating English data for all year groups across the school and identifying areas for development in terms of reading, writing and oracy. I was responsible for introducing, implementing and monitoring new initiatives such as new phonics programmes/ reading schemes.
I was responsible for teaching the Year 1 curriculum and ensuring all the children in my class made excellent progress.
This was a temporary role that I decided not to continue with due to ongoing strike action at the school over academisation and working conditions.
My role was reception class teacher. I was responsible for delivering the EYFS curriculum to my class and ensuring each child made excellent progress. I was responsible for creating a stimulating and challenging learning environment and teaching lessons that all children were able to access and enjoy. I was responsible for assessing the children and collating data regarding their progress, ensuring that they were receiving appropriate interventions where necessary. I also led RE and PSHE across the school- manging subject data and leading staff training and whole school events.
I was promoted after 2 years of service to Early Years Manager. I was line manager to the EYFS teachers and support staff, conducting pupil progress meetings and monitoring the performance of the staff through learning walks and observations. I was responsible for identifying training needs within the department and implementing and monitoring new initiatives.
