Technical actuarial:

• Delivered high-quality reviews of IAS19, FRS102, and US GAAP pensions accounting for major corporates, resolving complex scenarios (buy-ins/buy-outs, group consolidation, stop-start accounting) under tight deadlines (including one-day turnarounds) and ensuring smooth auditor and administrator engagement.
• Led independent actuarial reviews of re-insurers’ collateral requirement calculations under buy-in agreements.
• Experience in asset-liability modelling for DB pension schemes, including funding strategy design, journey planning, contributions strategy testing and demographic stress modelling. Skilled in translating ALM results into actionable funding and investment recommendations for trustees and sponsors.

Strategic advisory:

• Experience in developing innovative end-game strategies for corporates; recently helped advise a large US sponsor on a run-on strategy for its £1.5bn DB scheme – delivering a plan projected to generate c.£300m in surplus by 2040 through risk-controlled investment and tax-efficient surplus use, while safeguarding members via a robust security package with contingent funding and a surety bond.
• Developed standardised advisory materials for DB governance reviews for sponsors, targeting cost optimization, enhanced efficiency, and strategic end-game alignment.

Commercial & relationship-building:

• Active member of LCP’s new business team, managing corporate prospecting initiatives. Recently delivered accounting benchmarking analysis at short notice to support LCP in winning a £2bn corporate client
• Built strong market relationships by organising and leading next-generation networking events between lawyers and professional trustees to drive collaboration and strategic engagement.
• Strong communicator with experience presenting complex actuarial concepts (e.g. accounting, GMP equalisation, risk transfer advice, valuation results) to a range of stakeholders, including non-technical audiences and senior corporate decision-makers.
