  • Delivered high-quality reviews of IAS19, FRS102, and US GAAP pensions accounting for major corporates, resolving complex scenarios (buy-ins/buy-outs, group consolidation, stop-start accounting) under tight deadlines (including one-day turnarounds) and ensuring smooth auditor and administrator engagement.
  • Led independent actuarial reviews of re-insurers’ collateral requirement calculations under buy-in agreements.
  • Experience in asset-liability modelling for DB pension schemes, including funding strategy design, journey planning, contributions strategy testing and demographic stress modelling. Strategic advisory:

  • Experience in developing innovative end-game strategies for corporates; recently helped advise a large US sponsor on a run-on strategy for its £1.5bn DB scheme – delivering a plan projected to generate c.£300m in surplus by 2040 through risk-controlled investment and tax-efficient surplus use, while safeguarding members via a robust security package with contingent funding and a surety bond.
