Passionate about mental health and recovery, I have dedicated my career to supporting individuals through a variety of roles across NHS, community, and voluntary settings. My work has been shaped by both professional expertise and lived experience, allowing me to connect with people in a meaningful and empathetic way. With extensive experience in peer support, service development, and leadership, I have worked closely with diverse individuals, from those navigating ADHD and perinatal mental health to people in crisis or recovery from trauma. My role as a Lived Experience Supervisor within the NHS involved integrating peer support into clinical teams, providing supervision, and delivering training to enhance recovery-focused care. I have also developed and facilitated self-development courses, peer-led groups, and structured support programmes tailored to individual needs. Currently completing my Level 4 Diploma in Counselling Skills & Theory, I am committed to deepening my therapeutic practice and furthering my ability to support individuals on their journey to recovery. My approach is person-centred and trauma-informed, with a strong emphasis on empowerment and resilience-building. Alongside my professional roles, I have a strong personal commitment to mental health advocacy, continuous learning, and reflective practice. I am excited to bring my experience, compassion, and dedication to a counselling placement, where I can apply my skills in a therapeutic setting while continuing to develop as a counsellor.
I am humbled to have been recently offered the position of ADHD Programme Manager within CNTW. This newly established role reflects the success of the lived experience programme I created and led on during my time as a supervisor, which addressed the gap in ADHD services in Cumbria and the limited support beyond medication. Motivated by my personal experiences with ADHD and the challenges of accessing support, I drew upon the experiences of others to develop this programme to better serve our community. I eagerly anticipate commencing this role and contributing to the continued advancement of ADHD services within the Trust.
As a Lived Experience Supervisor, I facilitate the integration of lived experience support across Cumbria, enhancing traditional medical models with empathetic, holistic approaches to recovery. My role involves promoting the value of lived experience by collaborating with various teams within the trust, embedding new positions, managing caseloads, and overseeing the recruitment and supervision of these roles before progressing to subsequent teams
I relocated from Kendal to Carlisle due to my husband's promotion. I decided to take that opportunity to do a degree in Science at the Open university. I successfully completed 2 years of university before having my son in early 2016.
