Client Rep onboard, Leonardo Da Vinci for the export cable jointing of C1 to C2 on Sofia OWF together with Simultaneous Lay and Burial, from KP130 to the OCP (Offshore Convertor Platform). Prior to this, I was Client Rep on the Ievoli Cobalt for the mattress installation at the DBB and SEAL crossing locations. The cables consisted of 2 x HVDC cables with the FO bundled together and laid using a HD3 heavy Plough system.

  • Real-time monitoring and reporting was conducted using onboard survey systems to track the cable tension(s), plough speed, and burial depth. A WROV with Gemini sonar and MBES systems were employed to monitor cable placement.
  • The cable was successfully buried to the contracted depth across the entire route, in line with the project specifications.

  • Client Rep for PLGR from Skagerrak (CLV) for EC1 RPL followed by laying of Export Cable 1, onboard Nexans Aurora (CLV) reporting on all aspects of the operations, witnessing and detailed reporting on PLGR of cable route together with Cable lay and loadouts / Witnessing of pre and post loading TDR and OTDR testing, and offloading of spare cable. Following on from this :-
  • IAC (inter-array cable) installation on 60 TP locations onboard, Seaway Aimery, witnessing and reporting on all aspects of the installation / loadout(s), and initial review of field reports and survey data pre and post lay /MOC's, and TP pull in's
  • Ensuring that contractor adhered to the agreed scope(s), schedule, and quality standards outlined in the contract and procedures.
  • Ensured all pre and post-installation surveys were completed (seabed surveys, cable route surveys, and as built data recorded and checked with survey.

  • Client Rep overseeing diving work-scope on, HDD shoreside pull ins for Sofia OWF ready for Leonardo Da Vinci CLV layaway.
  • Worked with Dive Supervisors to make sure safety protocols were followed, including risk assessments, emergency procedures, and dive team preparations together with work-scope procedures.
  • Ensured that all diving and offshore activities met both client and regulatory standards. In-depth understanding of safety protocols and industry standards (e.g., IMCA, DNV GL).
  • Facilitated, effective communication between the diving team and the client, reporting clearly on progress, challenges, or changes to the scope of work.
  • Was an effective point of contact for troubleshooting operational issues, especially those that involved diving activities.

  • Maintained clear and accurate records of progress, inspections, and any changes made including updating the project tracker and areas requiring second passes . Recorded areas of Reasonable Endeavours as and where necessary.
  • Reported regularly to the client regarding the status of the project, any issues encountered, and upcoming milestones.
  • Monitored progress and performance of the trenching team(s) on a day to day basis and took part in shift briefings .
  • Ensured the trenching work aligned with the project BAS (Burial Assessment Survey).
  • Ensured all pre and post-trenching surveys were completed (seabed surveys and ensured field reports sent for processing.

  • Shift Supervisor for Seaway 7 onboard The Siem Barracuda (ISV) and The Onyx (TSV) in Taiwan working on the Yunlin OWF followed by the CFXD OWF project.
  • The ISV was utilised to support IAC installation and T&T at Yunlin and the TSV was employed to bury the export cables at CFXD operating out of Anping and Taichung
  • My work included:-
  • Positively reinforcing successful shift performance, providing clear, specific, timely and respectful instruction to project team(s) personnel.
  • Controlling the continuous operation of Independent Support Vessel / Trenching Support Vessel activity, making real-time decisions to ensure production requirements were met to task specifications.
  • Supervising the activities of workers and enforcing safety protocols.
  • Keeping Teams operating productively to meet company and client needs.
  • Logging of all daily activities and notable incidents during production shifts.
  • Leading and overseeing all shift activities, including ROV and Aratellus Trencher activities, to the highest performance, quality, health and safety standards.
  • Positioning and co-ordinating vessel and teams to TP's and to safely deploy / pickup, pull in teams and T&T teams effectively utilising the Ampelmann walk to work system, ensuring that vessel remained in a safe position for emergency response.

  • Land fall HDD and Diving Rep for Moray East based in Banff, and on completion transferred to The Havilla Phoenix, Deep Ocean TSV, and was Client Rep for the Export cable trenching, that was utilising the T3200 and T1500, During the shore base I was responsible for the following:-
  • Act as the main point of contact between the client and the service provider and diving contractor.
  • Regularly monitor and assess safety procedures in the field, particularly during the pull-in phase and diving operations.
  • Addressed any technical challenges or issues that arose during the HDD pull-in or diving operations.
  • Reviewed the HDD operations and diving methods to make sure they complied with environmental regulations, industry standards, and the client’s specific requirements and commentated as necessary.
  • Kept accurate records of all work completed, including any changes to the procedures or unexpected challenges.
  • Provided detailed reports to the client, documenting progress, delays, and any other issues.
  • Witnessed and reported on 3 x landfall pull ins monitoring all aspects of the pull ins.
  • Transferred onto Havilla Phoenix where my role included :-
