Work history

Site Manager

Kier Construction
Truro, Cornwall
05.2023 - Current

I joined Kier in May 2023, initially working on a Cornwall Council, scheme procured through the NEC framework, I was appointed at the early stages of delivery and moved onto the project to manage the early work packages and further packages that followed. I worked in unison with the existing site manager to jointly lead the project from the early stages to completion and subsequent handover, this was a complex and challenging project that involved an extensive fire strategy design, curved curtain walling, brise soleil, and a profilit glazing system, All situated in a busy high street that was kept "live" during the construction phase. The project faced many design, logistical, and operational challenges which had to be overcome to ensure the project was delivered on time and within budget, this was achieved through hard work, determination and commitment from a collaborative team of which I played a key role in helping to develop and manage. The project later went on to win an award of project of the year at Michelmores property awards, and was highly regarded as one of Western and Wales most successful projects in recent years. Project value was 9m

Following this I moved over to an established DFE project and was appointed to manage the delivery of all internal works packages on a primary school in Launceston, this again was a jointly led project between myself and a colleague, this project again faced challenging programme durations, high customer expectations and was jointly managed to achieve a high standard of building work and customer satisfaction. I worked closely with both the clients reprehensive and end user at all stages throughout the project to ensure expectations were being met and client relations were maintained. As a team we completed and handed over the Primary school in January 2025, and received impeccable feedback from both the client team, and the end user, and the operational team went on to receive an internal award from Kier for outstanding delivery of a DFE project. Project value was 11.5m

Currently, I am an acting site lead on a major infrastructure project at RNAS Culdrose, which has a total project value of over 200m.

I am currently appointed to D site, which is a scheme procured through the NEC framework to demolish and rebuild a engineering training school for the Royal Navy with a total project value of 22m. Over the last 6 months I have been working on collating design information, working closely with the commercial team to let packages to suitable subcontractors, ensuring all temporary works and site logistics are developed and managed, ensuring the site is set up with adequate provisions, such as welfare and services for infrastructure. In unison to this I have been working on delivering a large modular office building for Navy personal, to allow the training school to have a safe and sufficient working environment for the duration of the major project which we handed over to the client very recently, and are currently working through the aftercare stage closely with both the clients reprehensive and the end user.

Some of my daily responsibilities are as follows,

  • Keep workforce in compliance with operational standards and safety regulations by closely monitoring activities.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to comply with safety guidelines.
