Students learn about standards of honor, courage, and commitment and follow a rigorous screening, education, training, and attitudinal development process.

  • Engineering Professional Apprenticeship Career Tract (EPACT):

-from 10-MAR-2020 30-MAR-2020 in Great Lakes,IL

This course provides students with an introduction to basic engineering plant operation, including using hand and power tools while working with complex machinery; repairing and maintaining engineering plant equipment; keeping accurate written records; observing safety precautions; operating communication systems; and serving as a damage control team member. Topics include industrial safety, heat stress, equipment tag out, CPR, logs and records, piping systems valves, electrical fundamentals, fire chemistry and extinguishing equipment, fire watches, and heat-sensing equipment.

  • Basic Engineering Common Core Advanced:

-from 31-MAR-2020 to 17-APR-2020 in Great Lakes,IL

This course provides students with an introduction to basic shipboard engineering equipment and operations and shipboard damage control.

  • Gas Turbine Systems Electrical/Electrician's Mate Apprentice Technical Training:

-from 15-MAY-2020 to 05-JUN-2020 in Great Lakes,IL

This course provides students information on direct current (DC) and analog current (AC) electrical circuits, including basic mathematics as it relates to electrical circuits, color code, circuit element symbols, Ohm's Law, calculations as they relate to series, parallel, and series-parallel circuits. Additionally, content addressing how to identify electrical faults, use of an oscilloscope; safety practices; introduction to an electronic signal, i.e. DC (step) and sinusoidal; and frequency sensitive devices and their identifications (capacitors and inductors). Introduction to p-n junction (diode) and half-wave and full-wave rectifiers, and a foundation in relays, transformers, DC and AC motors, generators, and their operations and troubleshooting.

  • Electrician's Mate "A" School:

-from 06-JUL-2020 to 24-JUL-2020 in Great Lakes,IL

This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, including: generators, electrical distribution equipment, lighting, motors, and appliances.

  • Electric Motor Rewind:

-from 11-JUL-2022 to 16-AUG-2022 in Norfolk, VA

This course provides students with the skills and knowledge to test, disassemble, rewind, and reassemble single phase and three phase AC electrical motors. Rewind AC and DC motor and generator stators, rotors, field coils, and armatures utilizing round wire or formed coils. Takes rewinding data, replaces brushes, adjusts brush rigging, dips, bakes, renews bearings, assembles, and test runs
