Systemically trained children’s social worker in post as a Senior Mental Health Practitioner in CAMHS, I have recently qualified as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist at the University of Derby. I am passionate about improving services and equitable, trauma-informed provision for families and young people. With 16 years of experience in multi-agency working and optimum service delivery in the most challenging of circumstances, I am a tenacious and persuasive social worker with a committed drive to help families receive much-needed support. I have a particular interest in therapeutic adaptations for neurodivergent clients and the use of environmental space within the therapeutic setting.
Senior clinician within CAMHS delivering evidence-based CBT to children and adolescents with complex mental health needs, including looked-after children and those with significant trauma and attachment difficulties. Experienced in risk assessment, formulation, and treatment of high-acuity presentations. Contributes to service improvement, pathway development, and strategic planning within a multidisciplinary NHS setting.
I am passionate about child-centred and restorative, inclusive practice.
My role as a social worker in the Family Safeguarding Team includes assessments and interventions, in line with statutory law. Capturing the voice of the child through direct work is an integral part of my role in order to truly understand, and advocate for, their needs.
I have a case load of Child In Need and Child Protection cases, in addition to working with families who are in court proceedings. I produce well-written and timely assessments, court reports and risk assessments. I create, develop and review multi-agency outcome-focused plans for children and young people in order to protect them from harm.
At Acorns I held a caseload of children with siblings who have complex and life -limiting needs, to provide therapeutic-based support both before and after the death of their brother or sister. This included work on emotional regulation and literacy, memory-making and anticipatory grief. I also assisted in the organisation and coordination of team-building group activities with the siblings across the West Midlands in order to encourage peer rapport.
My role involved working with children and families in the assessment team, undertaking Child and Young Persons Assessments, chairing multi-agency meetings, creating and reviewing care plans, doing direct work with children and families.
