I am a dedicated second-year BA (Hons) Counselling & Mental Health psychology student with practical experience supporting children and individuals with additional needs. Through my studies, I have developed counselling skills my participating in role-play as both listener and speaker, including CBT based exercises. I have experience supporting a child with Down syndrome and additional SEND needs by assisting with communication, learning activities, play, routines, social interaction and encouraging independence. I also gained experience caring for children within a day care setting in 2018 and achieved a Safeguarding qualification in 2019. As a Course Representative and Student Ambassador, I have supported fellow students by listening to their concerns, helping those experiencing bullying or mental health difficulties, and signposting them to appropriate university support services. Through caring responsibilities within my family, I have also developed patience, empathy, resilience and strong understanding of supporting individuals with complex needs. I am passionate about making a positive difference in lives of children, young people and adults. I am eager to develop my career supporting those with SENDS and complex mental health conditions.
