Home-Start, an organisation that champions a healthy and loving childhood, is where I volunteered. I worked with families in their homes, assisting children under 5 years old. I helped parents with their day-to-day tasks and occasionally attended stay-and-play sessions. This role has now ended.
During my spare time, I enjoy reading non-fiction books and sometimes writing poetry myself. I am a keen walker/hiker and traveller, and as a family, we regularly visit the countryside and spend our time exploring nature at its finest. As a mother, I bake with my children and cook new healthy dishes for everyone to appreciate.
In a previous role as a volunteer with Home Start (a charity that supports parents on their journey into parenthood), I identified a need to improve well-being support for new mothers within the community and developed a proposal to address this through accessible yoga sessions, alongside a crèche for their babies. I presented the project to a local council funding panel, clearly outlining the benefits for maternal mental health and early parent-child wellbeing, and successfully secured funding. I then supported the delivery of the initiative, demonstrating strong organisational skills, clear communication, and a commitment to inclusive, preventative mental health support. I secured £5000 funding for the charity. This role has now ended.
