I have a broad-based knowledge of different art and media disciplines and am confident in teaching students a wide range of art and film skills. My skill and adaptability have led me to teaching subjects beyond art. My digital skills led me to teaching Media studies in my previous school at KS4 level.
I have also developed digital, interactive resources for the company ‘Board works’ - KS3 and KS4 Art.
I have taught Graphics successfully in the Design Technology department and implemented a Graphics Communication course for art in the sixth form.
I have two qualifications, one in fine art and the other art history. In addition, I have become skilled at using and teaching digital art.
I taught students photography skills in Media Studies and have a prior background working with photographers and advertising agencies with camerawork and printing using a darkroom.
Privately, I have had two exhibitions of my own paintings and mixed media work in New Zealand and try to work on my own work in my spare time. I believe my own personal interest in art keeps me enthused in motivating students to achieve.
I have also illustrated a children’s book, which was published – for early childhood readers.
In recent years I have developed my digital skills through the use of various software, Photoshop, i-Stop Motion, Premiere pro and more recently in-design.
I am currently writing a set of short stories drawing influence from my New Zealand upbringing and my UK experiences.
I am redeveloping my Photography, having taught it for a long time, I have decided I should create my own thematic development
I aim to write a screenplay and make a short film. This is a work in progress.
