Alicia Martinez Menacho

I initially volunteered here for the 3 previous months before being offered a position. I started my role as part of the day team where I developed surgical experience and practical medical approach. From September 2021 I became part of the night team to enjoy better work-life balance and to challenge myself with more responsability working as solo OOH vet.

My role here was to do day and OOH consultations, hospitalisation and initial treatments, in both a small practice in La Linea and a big practice in Gibraltar practices, belonging to same Owner.I t was my first time to use english in my work place and a bridge towards working in UK.

I was sole vet during OOH, I used to do the consultations, care for hospitalised pets, routine laboratory jobs and writing reports

Big and busy hospital where the main part of my job was emergency medicine during OOH and weekends, attending consultations, caring for inpatients, processing new admissions, diagnostics and first line treatments. Small part of my role was routine medicine and follow up of cases

I had the chance to start my veterinary career in this countryside mixed practice where I used to do farming in the mornings and small animals in the afternoon
