My experience of having 2 of my own children under the age of 7 years old, means I have an understanding of how to support children's needs and nurturing them. I have felt that the experience of working within early years settings has helped towards my level of high standards of care for my own children.
I currently work with children in between the ages of 2 and a half to 3 years old. I worked with children of the ages 0 to 1 years old from October 2017 to April 2019 before I went onto Maternity Leave. When I started at the setting I was working with children of 0- 16 months old children, until I was 6 months pregnant I was moved into working with children between the ages of 16 months to 29 months old. My company where I worked Meaford Day Nursery sold in August 2025 and the age range of the rooms changed within the setting, which was taken over and renamed to Early Years Academy Stone. I worked in the room that had children of 16 months old to 2 years old. For 3 months before Christmas I was placed into the Baby room to support the staff. In January the age ranges of the rooms changed and I went into work in the 14 months old to 2 years old children. However Easter I was placed into the room that has children aged 2 to 3 years old. I cover staff members' days off or holiday in the Baby room, which consists of children between the ages of 0 to 14 months old.
Remove personal pronoun help fill out risk assessments for opening and closing of shifts, and do Garden risk assessments within all rooms. I speak to parents at the door, ensuring good handovers of children that they are settledand pass clear communication to practitioners regarding information passed on. I ensure that the necessary training is done regarding my role as an early years practitioner such as: First Aid, Prevent Duty, Safeguarding, FGM and Food Hygiene.
With my current setting being taken over I had experience of a nursery being taken over through Lollipops Montessori Nursery becoming Footsteps Day Nurseries. The setting where I work does In the Moment Planning based on children’s current interests and how we can extend the learning; through parent contribution of things they have been interested in at home or places they have visited. We have different colour placemats regarding Allergies and Intolerances. Safe sleep procedures are ensured to meet the new requirements of the EYFSS.
I worked with children in between the ages of 2 and a half to 3 years old. I worked with children of the ages 0 to 1 years old from October 2017 to April 2019 before I went on to Maternity Leave. Delegated jobs to staff that supported our room when staff were off sick or on holiday. Helped towards filling the children’s files such as; existing injuries, incident forms and medications form and ensured that confidentiality was met. Working with Babies and Under 2’s, I attended Under 2’s training to further my current skills in regard to sensory experiences for Babies, weaning, sleep and how to give bottles of milk/breast milk. I dealt with allergies within my time in the baby room ie: dairy allergies.
I transitioned from being with Lollipops Montessori Nursery for a year to Footsteps Day Nursery. I learnt all their policies, procedures and planning for the children that were attending our setting.
I worked with children between the ages of 1 and 2 years old for a year, and worked the rest of my time at the nursery with children ages between 0 to 1 years old. I ran the Babyroom on my own in ratio to the age group that I was working with. I followed the needs of all individuals, and worked with 2 children with developmental delays and physical disabilities. I worked alongside the SENCO in the setting to develop Individual Education Plans, filling out paperwork, and dealt with outside agencies and professionals to ensure the children’s needs were met. I went to Greenhall Nursery to hire toys from their toy library to ensure that the children could be integrated into the setting. I delegated jobs to staff that were supporting my Babyroom, filed away children’s files i.e.: Existing injuries, incident forms and medication forms. I helped support Students in my room to develop their skills in childcare. I was in charge of doing the Inventory of cleaning products in the nursery, washing and recycling. I helped out doing supply in the rooms with children between the ages of 1 to 4 years old.I covered staff members when they were off sick, on holiday or for their planning time.
I answered phones to customers and dealt with customers to take their orders, made the pizzas, cut them and ensured that they got out on delivery or to the customer in a fast time. I helped with the close down of the shop by cleaning the shop, and ensuring food was placed back into the fridge with dates to keep food hygiene. I ran the day shifts by opening up, setting up the shop, did the inventory by counting all the cold produce in the fridge and dry produce in the stores. On close shifts I learnt how to count all the money at the end of the night, and to do the paperwork for closing down.
During my time of completing my BTEC and finishing college, I worked as Supply Nurse within all rooms 0-5 years old supporting the staff to ensure they could meet the needs of the children
Moved to Swansea to start University in September 2004.
