  • I learnt to work as part of a team.
  • I learnt coding.
  • I made electronic devices from the software programs I had designed, including a lighting up Christmas tree and a morse code transmitter.
  • I used the MicroPython programming software in conjunction with the Arduino software and hardware.
  • I learn Morse Code and the phonetic alphabet.
  • I learnt to quote PI to 100 places: my performance is available on you tube.
  • As a group, we also:
  • sent our name: "The Steamettes" in morse code into space and it will be there forever. It was also displayed on the International Space Station and we sent questions to the astronauts, amongst whom was the British astronaut Tim Peake.
  • took part in a World Wide online Stem conference, answering questions about our work and projects.
  • held a stem stand at a careers event for Thanet G.C.S.E. students, at Sandwich Discovery Park.
  • took part in a televised news item, that was professionally filmed over two days, in which I demonstrated how to make an electric circuit.

We were praised by the crew for how few takes and

editing was needed to wrap it all up.

Being part of this stem club, taught me many transferable skills, amongst which;

  • Carrying out duties accurately and efficiently.
  • Quickly learning and applying new skills to daily tasks, improving efficiency and productivity.
  • Successfully delivering on tasks within tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrating respect, friendliness and willingness to help wherever needed.
