Summary

I qualified from the University of Suffolk in April 2025 and I am writing to you today to express my interest for the position of an immunisation nurse. I would like the opportunity to show that I am a good candidate for this position whilst gaining a useful learning experience.

Studying midwifery has enabled me to gain and practise many skills vital to providing exceptional healthcare. I am kind, calm and focused and see it as an imperative part of my job role to listen, communicate well and apply sensitivity at times of anxiousness or distress when reassurance is required. I have developed and have a new appreciation for the importance of accurate documentation, using appropriate and professional language, and the ability to apply sensitivity during times when it is most required. I am non-judgemental, professional, and considerate. I am confident in leading care and managing my time. But above all I am driven to provide an exceptional level of support for those in my care.

During my time on clinical placement, I have become experienced working within a high paced, demanding environment requiring me to be efficient, quick thinking and fast acting in challenging and emergency situations, working closely with the MDT to apply appropriate and safe management.

Prior to this course, I have worked in healthcare settings for 10 years including care work in a residential care home and being a radiology assistant in the ultrasound and x-ray department. During this time, I have been present during many challenging and emergency situations that require quick thinking and escalation. In these situations, I am calm, considerate, professional, and efficient. These qualities I have been able to transfer during my time as a midwifery student, allowing me to be able to speak to women and their families clearly with confidence, reiterating to them the challenges encountered and the recommendations for practice after such situations.

I believe the skills I have learned will transfer well to the role of an immunisation nurse. I am competent and confident in the administration of IM injections and the importance in performing an aseptic no touch technique during administration. I have the relevant experience required in providing injections to adults and neonates. I understand the evidence based practice surrounding immunisations and the importance of the promotion of vaccinations. I am organised, computer literate, work well in a team, have a driving licence and own car, and proof of vaccinations including Hepatitis B, MMR and Varicella. I would love for you to consider me for this position, I believe I will fulfil the role well and look forward to hearing from you.
