In the last few years by helping my father manage the accounts of his building firm, such as reminders to ensure suppliers and contractors are paid by the appropriate deadline, organising customer receipts and creating duplicates. This has taught me that effectively managing money, especially cashflow, is key to the running a successful business organisation. It has also show me that effective accounting is the glue which binds together the other functions of a business, such as marketing, production, and human resources. Studying economics has also enabled me to develop a deeper understanding of the behaviour of firms in different markets as well as the better understand the macroeconomic environment firms operate in and how external events, such as recessions and periods of inflation, can have significant implications for the business operations of firms. During my work experience period at Chowdry K Accountants I completed tasks such as compiling balance sheets, creating invoices and calculating billings. I thoroughly enjoyed the work and it confirmed I was making the right decision. Being a member of my local Army Cadet unit has enabled me to develop and improve many important skills, such as leadership, teamwork, communication, determination to succeed and my ability to quickly develop effective relationships with people from all backgrounds.
