Having grown up on the coast of the North-East of England, the sea is a formative part of my life.
From an early age I enjoyed water sports, particularly surfing, paddleboarding and fishing and more recently sailing. Now I am intent on a career at sea. To that end I recently completed STCW, ENG1 Medical and RYA Powerboat level 2 courses.
Through my time in the Combined Cadet Force I have developed teamwork, leadership, discipline, emergency and problem-solving skills, all of which are a valuable preparation for a life at sea.
I now seek an opportunity as a deckhand onboard any size vessel. Although not yet experienced in that role, I am determined to show my worth as a crew member to an employer who will give me that opportunity.
I have dedicated four years to the CCF, progressing to the rank of Cadet Colour Sergeant. This role developed strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills through training, mentoring younger cadets, and coordinating activities. I also undertook first aid training, further enhancing my ability to act responsibly and effectively in safety-critical situations. Gained practical experience in discipline, responsibility, and safety awareness, which directly translate to working effectively as a deckhand on board yachts.
