Work history

Deputy General Manager

Coorie Bars and Inns
Kirkcaldy, Fife
03.2022 - 08.2023

Most recently I worked for this small company in their first ever venue, assisting with the opening of the venue both back of house and front of house. My main duties were to ensure the kitchen was to a high standard both in cleanliness and service. I also looked after the events, bookings, bar stocks and kitchen stocks. Managed the staffs schedules and training and complied with all online due diligence.

I have now left the company as the director plans to hand the pub back to the landlord and move into his second venue. The time was right as I begin my studies in the next few months and so I am focusing now on finding suitable employment in a new venue.

Trainee Deputy General Manager

Stonegate Pubs
Kirkcaldy, Fife
07.2021 - 03.2022

I have successfully designed and trailed a performance based incentive which has been adapted into our daily practise.

The incentive works to highlight weak areas in our teams and to assign the top performers a role in coaching the bottom performers. It ran for 6 weeks and was based on scoring the staff in a multitude of categories, and reviewing the shift at the end of each day. We saw performance scores grow by 140% over the 6 week period and 90% of the staff in the trial venue reported feeling happier at work and more knowledgeable about their role within the company. This allowed our team to provide a greater service, increasing customer satisfaction.

My duties include; Resolving customer issues, providing knowledgeable info to customers, POS auditing, stock control, staff training and incentives.

Assistant Manager/ General Manager

Nethergate Pubs
Kirkcaldy, Fife
03.2019 - 08.2021

As General Manager, my main responsibilities were overall running of the business, from recruitment and development to budgeting and projecting. With the use of multiple online software, such as Excel and internal company projection software, I was able to accurately and systematically ensure the business exceed the expected requirements in profit and customer satisfaction. Implementing a vigorous induction process, employees are required to undergo a number of tests and challenges within their first 4 weeks. The extensive employee training and development, meant quality sales and customer engagement were the staffs top priority. In addition to this, I introduced further operating procedures across multiple venues during the ongoing Covid- 19 pandemic. This intensive approach ensured that staff had developed a confident understanding of the product offered and embodied our ethos of people, product and atmosphere; thus ensuring the safety of staff and customers, driving engagement and continued sustainable growth for the business. I was routinely responsible for the day-to-day operation of the venue whilst also overseeing projects off site. Including sales and event planning and stock control. Using various Microsoft products, I was able to ensure I achieved the maximum productivity throughout all my work. From using PowerPoint to present the business plans to directors, to Excel for completing my weekly Profit and Loss projection. My duties include; quarterly budgeting, profit projecting, costing the rotas for multiple sites, event viability reporting, stock control and weekly directors reports.
