At Unity Five, critical in scaling the mobile suite to nationwide adoption across 200+ UK councils and delivered Top 20 UK travel apps post-acquisition. Joined as the first developer, building the entire mobile function from scratch, and grew it into a multi-disciplinary team while remaining hands-on with product delivery and architecture. Delivered offline-first, fault-tolerant solutions for enforcement apps in challenging field conditions and was recognised with equity ownership and multiple industry award nominations for innovation in mobile parking technology.

  • Joined as the 8th employee and sole mobile developer; built Unity Five’s entire mobile team and product suite from the ground up. helping drive Unity Five’s growth, seeing significant investment and growth to over 250+ employees.
  • Scaled the full mobile product suite from near-zero adoption to over 7 million users nationwide, processing over £100+ in transactions yearly and becoming the platform of choice for over 200+ UK councils and parking providers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Zatmobile & Zatmobile+: Designed and built mission-critical enforcement apps from the ground up, enabling real-time and offline operations for 200+ councils/providers. Created applications in Objective-C/Java as well as migrating to Swift/Kotlin, built using modern architectures (e.g., offline-first, modular APIs), and delivered scalable, fault-tolerant solutions that process well over £100M+ in transactions each year under challenging field conditions.
  • Zatkiosk: Built market-leading kiosk solution with iPads and Android Tablets deployed at 2000+ locations worldwide.
  • MiPermit: Integrated acquired product suite, merged with existing app, transformed processes & tech (Objective-C → SwiftU, Java → Kotlin), now top 20 travel app on the app store with over 7M+ users.
  • Built and led cross-functional teams comprising of multiple cross-platform developers, QA engineers, designers, and product roles. Personally hired and mentored the majority of the team, introduced best practices (code reviews, agile workflows, CI/CD), and continue to manage and develop the team while remaining hands-on with fortnightly release cycles.
  • Granted significant equity ownership via Management Share Option Scheme, reflecting senior leadership role & long-term impact.
  • Owned product roadmap, UX strategy, branding, and technical direction, liaising directly with councils & senior leadership.
