I carried out a varied role. My duties included the general running of the garage in the managers absent. Alongside carrying out the fitting of tyres, repairs to brakes, suspension and general repairs of any other nature.
During my time with the garage I carried out day to day managerial duties. These included booking in requests for repairs, liaising with suppliers to obtain parts, handling of payments, the opening and locking up of the garage and also carrying out MOT repairs.
I dealt with customer both face to face and over the phone and maintained a professional approach.
During my time my duties included general servicing and MOT repairs. I then worked my way up to a supervisor position which I did for 8 months. My duties within this role included the general running of the garage, booking in customer vehicle's and organizing the workload of the garage and colleagues. During the period of being in the supervisor position I was lucky enough to be offered the role of Branch Manager. Whilst in this role I managed the garage, conducted stock takes. It was also within my role to manage the profits and loses of the garage, as well as making sure all work is completed correctly and in a timely manner.
I gained knowledge on how to make repairs on taxis and minibuses.
Also within my job role I diagnosed and made repairs to all types of fault on various vehicles for general wear and tear and also MOT repairs.
I wanted to gain some general understanding of how a garage worked and also learn the basics to different vehicles.
I believe this taught me some valuable experience within the industry and gave me a path into what I wanted to go into.
