Founder and Managing Director

The People’s Alliance

  • Company Overview: The People’s Alliance is a debt management company which I founded in my second year of University. The company sought to reclaim funds on behalf of students who had been subject to unlawful banking overdraft fees. Operating for just under a year, the profit paid for my MA year in full.
  • Commercial awareness expressed in identifying a niche market.
  • Excellent application of my research skills in monitoring market competition and the legal requirements of managing a small business.
  • Maintained a motivated team of reps operating within the student campus to consolidate a growing client base.
  • Negotiated free web development through the university IT faculty, with two students using the opportunity as part of a second year project.
  • The website also attracted a non-student clientele base, which meant helping real families with debt crisis, securing one customer with a £5000 lump sum which made a genuine difference to their financial well being.
  • Networked with other businesses in a local entrepreneurial scheme, for which I have been a keen representative, introducing a number of contacts and presenting two seminars to prospective student entrepreneurs.
  • The networking sessions also led to The People’s Alliance incorporating the claims of small businesses into our business model, proving to be a highly profitable avenue.
