Summary

As an experienced Family Mentor with 10 years of experience working for Home-Start I feel I have all the necessary transferable skills for the role of Family Safeguarding Practitioner within the Children In need Team. I am familiar with the TAF environment and the step up and step down process for families. I am confident and capable with data recording and understand the importance of documenting and recording the Journey of Change families undertake.

I have had training in Trauma related practise and work from an empathic and kind perspective, however I am not afraid to challenge and have worked with avoidant parents. I have completed the motivational interviewing training and find this a very positive and helpful approach when engaging families.

I have been involved in a number of cases where the children have had to be removed from the family and placed into foster care. Although difficult this process has been necessary and for some a desired outcome.

I am skilled at forming rapport and find family support work fully engages my skill set and my mind set

I am looking to move on from my current employer Home-Start Hertfordshire in search of a new challenge for my skills and experience.

As a house manager, I was in overall charge of the day-to-day running of the children's home, the staff and the care plans of the children who lived at the home. All children's homes are overseen and inspected by the CQC and Ofsted annually to ensure minimum standards were met and in our case exceeded. It was quite a high-pressure environment with a staff team of 14 to manage alongside the needs of the children. I enjoyed the job and found it interesting and inspiring in many many ways.
