- Responsible for end to end procurement function within a fast paced, highly competitive and cost sensitive paper converting manufacturing business over a multi-site business.
- Accountable for annual direct raw material spend of £40M + over a diverse supplier base including multinationals, SME's and local enterprises.
- Supply. A key function of my current role is to ensure the purchasing function contributes positively to overall business performance and ensures supply of materials are managed in line with business need with potential risks to supply highlighted, communicated and managed to ensure continuity.
- Supplier Relationship Management a key focus within my current role, managing different levels of leverage of a diverse supplier base from strategic suppliers through to transactional low value spend categories, engaging with internal and external stakeholders to develop strong supplier performance, Supplier development, spend rationalisation and strategic alliance seeking value adding partners.
- Negotiation based cost reduction tactics with current and potential suppliers through market intelligence, index tracking, product specification analysis and appreciation of Total Cost of Acquisition, Total Cost of Ownership to align with strategic objectives of the business and the needs of internal stakeholders.
- Proven experience in adding value through developing new sources and products into the business via collaboration with Quality, Operations, Compliance and R&D departments.
- Compliance. Experienced with various ISO requirements and associated audit processes along with other external certification requirements such as FSC. Established Supplier on-boarding procedure along with product specification data basing and evaluation, building sustainability credentials into evaluation criteria.
- Inventory Control. Proven results of inventory optimisation through inter-company collaboration, reliable sourcing, forecasting and risk mitigation planning leading to positive cash management outcomes and obsolescence reduction.
- Data and systems. Competent Microsoft Office Suite user and keen advocate of utilising available ERP, SRM resources for process efficiency, data maintenance and accuracy along with creating, sharing, reviewing and maintaining relevant data for reporting and opportunity/decision making exercises.
- Team Leadership. In my current role i have one direct report for whom i work closely with on a daily basis to achieve the goals of the organisation. Responsibilities include performance reviews, mentoring and objective setting. As an experienced member of the wider business i also mentor and support other internal stakeholders.
