My key responsibilities as a visual manager are to manage the visual presentation of the store through planning and effective implementation.

Alongside this role I play into my true passion, to work with people. To train and develop individuals is where my main interests sit. I work with the people team to train new managers for our business both internally and externally which involves teaching them every aspect of clothing and home, visual merchandising, Management skills and people Management. I also work closely with the people team to help write training and engagement sessions. I am a confident public speaker and I pride myself on being able to connect with my trainees to tailor their training needs to get the best results. Joining a retailers people team is my next career goal that I am striving towards.

  • I have an immediate team of highly skilled colleagues that work for myself, and we are responsible for delivering the visual message and standard across the clothing department.
  • This includes window displays, mannequin styling, floor CAD’s, layouts, seasonal changes and product handling.
  • A large part of my role is being personable, knowing how to communicate with different Individual's is key as I work with such a large team of colleagues and interact with our customers every day. Also networking with key stakeholders across the business is a key part of my role, I work across the people, regional and visual team every day and I have built some strong relationships along the way.
  • I like to meet new people, and I always go the extra mile to help people where I can.
  • Most of all I enjoy carrying out recruitment for our store and being a key part in the induction and training process.
  • I actively work on any training documents that are being developed, and I recently co developed our first teams based ‘service’ training with our L&D partner.
  • I work with internal and external candidates that are new to retail management positions
  • I often collaborate with the L&D partner to hold training sessions and engagement workshops . I also facilitate VM training days for the region
  • I cover annual leave for the people manager for the region which includes engaging fellow managers on weekly conference calls and supporting them with any people based enquiries.
  • I also take an active role in attracting talent for our "stepping into" management schemes
