Nuclear Engineering Project, University of the West of England November 2022 - April 2023, My dissertation report involved the investigation and design of a replacement CO2 monitoring system for the pressure vessel cooling water system on Hartlepool’s AGR. The project included the design and setup of test equipment to assess the suitability of pH as an alternative indicator of CO2. Working within the constraints of the safety case, I was able to propose and test a system that improved the availability of the monitoring system, while eliminating the maintenance burden of the existing and obsolete gas analysers.
