Work History

Constructoin Worker/Plumber/Laborer Supervisor

Boruch Construction
06.2023 - 09.2023
  • Completed various tasks related to labour, building, plumbing and construction, as well as effectively communicating with team members to coordinate efforts and achieve project objectives. Completing these tasks demonstrated a natural skillset that would translate well with what an engineer would do.

Steward

Habib Security and manpower LTD
05.2024 - Current
  • Engaged in diverse responsibilities such as event setup, customer service, crowd management, showcasing adaptability and quick problem-solving skills, where I ensured the smooth execution of event activities and logistics, leading me to believe this experience demonstrated why my skillset matches an engineer

Summer Camp/volunteering

Northway School
09.2018 - 09.2022
  • Supported recreational and educational activities for students with special needs, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. Developed patience, empathy, and effective communication skills while interacting with students and fellow volunteers/teachers.

Relevant Extracurricular experience

  • Space Exploration Workshop. I volunteered at a science education charity, where I helped design and build small scale model satellites (cube stats) with students. I assisted with the work on the payload design and improved my understanding of telemetry. This experience involved problem solving, team work and technical skills like structural design with a bit of programming where I learnt to understand satellite systems and project work too.
  • Springpod virtual experience. Completed multiple courses for engineering firms, such as an airbus certificate etc.
  • Instrumentation, Analysis and Testing exhibition at Silverstone race circuit (2023). Increased my knowledge of brand new technology and how measurement and analysis is used in modern day.
  • Technology Pull-Through Programme Webinar (2024) a virtual programme to help mature your academic research to transition to industry, was very helpful and inspired me to apply for an internship in the first place.
  • UCl Festival of Engineering Event (2021) Showcased the impact of engineering and inspired future engineers like me using interactive tools like VR, robotics and space related technologies.

Projects

Glider Project: Worked in a team to design, build, and fly a small-scale UAV-style glider (approx 400mm x 100mm) in a fixed-wing format. The glider carried a payload and used a small rocket motor for launch. Design calculations included:

  • Aerofoil Selection: Evaluated lift and drag coefficients for optimal performance.
  • Flight Metrics: Calculated take-off run time and distance (2m runway), ensuring a minimum initial velocity of 20 m/s. Also determined maximum height gain and flight path trajectory.

Bloodhound LSR project: I created an excel model to assess whether the car could sustain 1000 mph over 1 mile while ensuring safety and distance constraints. Key contributions included:

  • Performance Tuning: Optimised rocket start time and chute openings to meet the speed target while keeping acceleration under 3.5g and total distance within 10 miles. Created data columns to keep track of variables like velocity and acceleration etc.
  • Uncertainty Analysis: Evaluated performance using 10th and 90th percentile and controlled the resistance values from 100 trials to assess the impact on the objectives.

Personal Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 Spectator Safety course
  • ACT Certificate
  • Jack Petchey Award
  • Silver in UK Mathematical Challenge
