Compassionate and organised individual brings desire to gain work experience and learn from Optometry team. Eager to assist physicians, keep office tidy and help patients. Comfortable in fast-paced environments and willing to take on challenging work.
I started my Paediatric training at Wrexham Maelor Hospital in North Wales.
I learned how to perform all the required basic and advanced skills and procedures which enabled me to work as a safe and skilled doctor to match the job specifications for different age groups including neonates, children, and adults.
Also, I can initiate basic and advanced pediatric life support following the EPALS steps and work in collaboration with nursing staff, doctors from other specialities, and senior Pediatric doctors to conduct highly effective resuscitation.
I am currently EPALS certified which is valid until June 2026.
I have contributed to lots of safeguarding cases in different aspects from history taking, clinical examination, requesting investigations and obtaining samples. In addition to referrals and liaising with the local safeguarding team.
I successfully managed to conduct and show a consistently high level of competencies in conducting the following procedures:
A· Performing Venepunctures, IV Cannulation and obtaining blood samples and blood cultures in different age groups.
B· Inserting nasogastric and orogastric tube insertion in neonates, children, and adults.
C· Performing Capillary, Venous, and arterial blood gas and interpretation of the results.
D· Performing and interpreting ECG.
E. IV fluids infusion and adjustment taking into consideration special attention to critical cases (e.g., DKA, insulin regimen, fluid restriction)
F· Urethral Catheterization in males and females in different age groups.
G· Intramuscular and Subcutaneous injections including administration of vaccines.

I· Monitoring patients requiring Intensive care, high dependency, and special care including monitoring of the hydration and neurological status of such patients.
Eventually, I dynamically work with play specialists to support the kids while conducting invasive and painful procedures. Their assistance eases and helps to conduct such procedures smoothly and successfully and I find it is fundamental to the CYP and their parents to have the best quality of care and limit the trauma they could have from these procedures.
When I applied for this post as a pediatric emergency trust grade doctor, I was aiming to diagnose and treat patients with a variety of health issues as well as input and contribute to the treatment of difficult and unusual cases within the speciality (for example; safeguarding cases, minor traumas, poisoning and drug overdosage).
Before starting my post, I ensured the validity of all the mandatory courses that are required for this post which I am going to highlight later in the education section.
As a pediatric emergency doctor, my primary goal was to provide timely and effective medical care to children in emergencies.
My main achievements in this role included:
This post was my first job in the NHS as an overseas Paediatrician.
This job was a challenge for me, especially during a very critical time when COVID hit and Lockdown was there.
My job roles are listed as follows:
In terms of Medical Procedures and Interventions: I am competent in performing a wide range of medical procedures and interventions varying from simple basic procedures to advanced skills
I started my Paediatric career as a paediatrics and Neonatology resident for 5 years, starting by joining the national Paediatric training program in Egypt. I was allocated to the Children’s Department of the Suez Canal University Teaching Hospital, Ismailia, Egypt.
I Started in May 2015 and until March 2020. A tertiary care hospital that serves around 4 million people and treats over 700 thousand people annually. During this 5-year training process:
I found this post ideal for starting a Paediatric profession – great levels of senior support, wide exposure to different cases and clinical situations, and excellent level of knowledge and conduction of clinical and communication skills.
I applied the knowledge I obtained during medical school to assess any child attending with different acute and chronic presentations, recognition of sick children, and management of chronic illnesses.
I was UpToDate with the local and national guidelines and I was keen to have support from other specialties.
Theoretically, I undertook the postgraduate exams in 2 modules and passed them on the first attempt with very good grades. Also, I finished my master’s degree in Paediatrics in which I conducted a cross-sectional analytical study for the children admitted with bronchial asthma who have had iron deficiency anaemia and determined whether iron deficiency anaemia was a prognostic factor for the exacerbation of asthma or not. It was a 3-year study and by the end of the study, I discussed the results with a panel of supervising professors, and I was granted a master’s degree in Paediatrics and neonatology.
Clinically, I learned about obtaining a relevant focused history, performing a competent detailed physical and mental examination and accordingly formulation of appropriate differential diagnoses until reaching a provisional diagnosis and developing management strategies with my senior colleagues, writing clinically effective prescriptions and performing any required basic Paediatric procedures and skills independently and successfully as mentioned in the clinical skills.
