Adam Palmer

East Kilbride

Summary

I am a creative thinker with a passion for design of all sorts, with a focus on product design. I have skills in many fields such as CAD, industrial design, PCB design and electronics, along with other computer applications like Microsoft and Adobe, drawings and illustrations. Learning and implementing these skills have allowed me to become a good designer with new creative ideas with the ability to turn them into well-made, functional, and aesthetically pleasing works. I have successfully interpreted many types of briefs, strict and loose, giving me an insight into clients wants and needs in a product, including previously working with Hallmark to make a product and service side by side with them. I am adept at researching, designing, and lab work; designing and modelling on a computer, then turning the design into a functional prototype. Some notable achievements throughout my time at University include having one of my second year pieces in the degree show, where it sits today; a piece of work that set new records not only in my year but in the whole time of teaching that module; and figuring out a solution to a problem in our brief that was then copied by the majority of the other students in the class.

In my final honours year I was awarded a first place prize for my personal project for the innovation and materials sustainability by an external team.

I enjoy working both as an individual contributor and as part of a team, as I have held a 12 week internship with Wideblue - an engineering consultancy in Glasgow, where I worked closely with a variety of departments and cross-functional teams, accelerating my professional development and expanding industry knowledge. I am looking to further build on the skills I have already learned and add new skills to my library.
