Work history

Graduate Teaching Assistant

University of Warwick
Coventry
2024.10 - 2025.03
  • Built on previous experience to lead and deliver seminars independently. Planned, led, and delivered high quality seminars, building on students' responses to tasks to further improve seminar quality. Also worked with colleagues to mark and assess work and improve delivery, and displayed further initiative by independently designing a lecture and seminar as a 'guest' on another module. Further consolidated my work by simultaneously working towards an Advance HE teaching qualification.

Sessional Tutor

University of Warwick
Coventry
2023.10 - 2024.03
  • Though primarily a shadowing role, I showed initiative by actively contributing to discussions and adding to the lead tutor's comments on a regular basis. This then led to independently leading some seminars, analysing students' answers to understand how to best help them improve.

Tutor

MyTutor
Coventry
2020.11 - 2022.10
  • Built on previous experience as a self-employed tutor to independently deliver bespoke tuition sessions for several clients, managing several individual needs whilst maintaining high-quality teaching. Improved students' actual and predicted grades at GCSE and A-Level. Created an enthusiastic and safe online learning environment for students to feel motivated and supported.

Student Ambassador

University of Warwick
Coventry
2018.10 - 2021.07
  • Brief hiatus from July 2019–October 2020 due to Year Abroad.
  • Worked within a team to promote the School of Modern Languages and Cultures on Open and Offer Holder Days. Engaged with and assisted different stakeholders, and became adept at conveying key information in an effective and bespoke manner in both physical and virtual environments. I later honed these skills as a Scholar Ambassador during my PhD, albeit in a donor–recipient context.

Trainee Journalist

L’Express
Port Louis
2019.08 - 2019.11
  • Worked as a journalist for a French-language newspaper in Mauritius as part of a Year Abroad, which was cut short by the pandemic. Independently conducted (physical and telephone) interviews, and used information at my disposal to effectively communicate key information within my articles.

Widening Participation Ambassador

University of Warwick
Coventry
2018.11 - 2019.07
  • Worked with colleagues to promote Widening Participation opportunities. Collaboratively delivered workshops and other events aimed at different age groups and backgrounds, requiring me to constantly adapt my communication and written resources. Have since maintained links with the WP team and helped them on an ad-hoc basis.

WIHEA Learning and Teaching Student Champion

Warwick University
Coventry
2018.06 - 2018.06
  • Coordinated with Library, School of Modern Languages and Cultures, and fellow undergraduates to create three short videos designed to improve students' research skills. Focused on how to effectively communicate key points concisely whilst also ensuring a high-quality, engaging product. Strong reception led to further videos, a presentation at Warwick Education Conference 2019, and a WIHEA (Warwick International Higher Education Academy) Student Fellowship.

Sales Assistant

Antenna International
Watford, Hertfordshire
2016.02 - 2016.09
  • Part-time at the Harry Potter Studio Tour site. Communicated with members of the public on a regular basis, using my own initiative to upsell where appropriate. Often required to communicate information to French-speaking customers in an effective and sometimes sensitive manner.
