Central Rhyl Coastal Defence Scheme – In my role as the Designer Site Representative for the Central Rhyl Coastal Defence Scheme, I am instrumental in overseeing the implementation of various coastal protection measures designed to enhance resilience and safety along the Rhyl shoreline. The project encompasses the construction of new precast revetments, rock scour protection for the existing seawall, the installation of new beach access steps, raising and widening of the existing promenade. My focus is on ensuring that all construction activities align with the engineered design, regulatory requirements, and safety standards, while also facilitating effective communication between Contractor and design team.
Key responsibilities include:
Act as the primary point of contact between the client, design team, and contractors to ensure project objectives are met.
Supervise and monitor on-site activities to ensure compliance with the works specification and safety protocols.
Preparation of site progress reports.
Attendance weekly design meetings.
Providing response to technical queries and coordinating responses required from office-based staff.
Checking and approving Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) prior to construction works taking place.
Attending inspection requests and signing off hold points where required.
Issuing observation reports when require to advise the Contractor when activities are incorrect in order that Defects can be avoided.
Assisting with the maintenance of the Defect register.
Old Colwyn Coastal Defence and Active Travel. Acting as a site supervisor and New Engineering Contract (NEC4) assistant supervisor for the coastal defence and active travel improvements at Old Colwyn with an estimated cost of £32M. Scheme targets the section of promenade most at risk of collapse. The scheme involves 750m of new rock revetment, two new beach access, outfall extensions, new road alignment and new fishing platform. Ecological enhancement measures, both marine and terrestrial, are also included as part of the scheme. Responsible for monitoring site progress, reviewing work undertaken by principal contractor, sub-contractors and by others, ensuring that undertaken work complies with contract scope.
A55 JNC 27 ST Asaph – 14 Roe Parc – Site supervision for the ground investigation required for investigation of the ground and ground water conditions for a retaining wall construction near a highway embankment.
A55 Pen-Y-Clip Tunnel - Penmaenmawr – Scheme includes replacement of failing carriageway covers in Pen Y Clip tunnel, Penmaenmawr. Responsible for analysing options for adopting heavier duty covers, review of the build-up of the existing chambers to ensure that there is sufficient depth to install a deeper cover and frames. Also undertaking a study of previously used bedding mortal and engineering bricks and selecting alternative materials for reinstatement of covers.
