I started as a volunteer at a doggie daycare in 2017. I was then offered a full time job in 2018. During 2020 I was promoted to Manager.
The jobs main role and responsibility is the welfare of the dogs. Since working at daycare I have developed many skills. I understand dog behaviour & body language. I’ve carried out assessments on new dogs to see whether they’re fit for daycare. We always use positive reinforcement as our form of training. The most important thing is I understand dog. I’m good at managing situations. Creating a well balanced group. Deciding what dogs go well with other dogs based on how they interact.
I started attending Micks training classes in 2021 with my dog Merlin doing the Kennel club foot citizen scheme. In 2024 Mick asked if I would like to help out with the classes, as he knew I had a passion for dogs and liked my training skills. In the classes I helped people train their dogs and gave them advice when needed. I also did some demonstrations of exercises they needed to do. The ages of dogs ranged from puppy classes to gold classes.
