I've been working with animals for 29 years and have been an RVN for 26 years. I still love the variety that each day in practice brings. I thrive on working as part of a friendly and supportive team.
I am hoping to find a part-time position that will allow me to continue to perform the range of general practice veterinary nursing tasks that I love and will be very happy to be part of the nursing team.
In addition to the day to day tasks of a Veterinary Nurse in general practice, I also had the pleasure of being a Clinical Coach to a first year SVN. This was a return to coaching, and I relished in the excitement of helping to support a student in achieving their dreams.
My promotion to Nursing Manager brought with it the fantastic opportunity to be more actively involved in the mental well-being of our nursing team.
I had responsibility for over-seeing the maintenance of our diagnostic/ imaging equipment and placing the necessary consumables and drug orders from our suppliers.
I strive to be friendly, supportive, empathetic and caring towards colleagues, clients and, most importantly, our patients.
I support my mental wellbeing by reading, gardening, cooking and yoga. I share my home with my husband, son (15 years old) daughter (13 years old). We have a collection of pets, that currently consist of: Mac a rescue three-legged cat, Grayson a Sprocker Spaniel who has quite a nervous disposition and has needed alot of gentle training to bring out the best, Rye an 8 month old rescue Sprocker Spaniel, who is a "blank canvas" and is very enthusiastic to learn, and 2 rescue guinea pigs. Since owning a Sprocker, I have also developed a keen interest in dog training!
I attend training classes at Seadogs, as well as continuing to "top up" their skills each day. I love watching their ability to learn new skills, and the way that they gain in confidence as they do so. I am keen to learn more about the Tellington T-Touch method of calming pets and am in the process of teaching cooperative care techniques to Grayson and Rye.
