Projects and achievements

  • Robotic Arm (Masters thesis): Developed a 6-axis robotic arm capable of navigating through confined spaces and handling 350N Payload. Features include 4.5m reach and 8mm lead shielding, which enabled operation of 185 hours in radioactive environment in Fukushima Daiichi reactor.
  • Automation and mechatronics: Optimized SCARA robot on an automated platform, reducing orientation errors to 0.1%, eliminating drilling errors, and increasing operation speed by 27% through refined computer vision, MOV/MVS methods, and adaptive PLC programming in a closed-loop system.
  • Control design: Derived a mathematical equation for a robotic arm using MATLAB and designed a closed loop system to operate the control functions of motors while varying loads (10N to 350N) are applied on the robotic arm, achieved by controlling the torques using PID controller.
  • Robot design and implementation: Designed and pioneered a five-bar planar robotic system for assembly tasks. Utilized MATLAB for design calculations, SolidWorks for detailed design and ANSYS for structural analysis, and developed an algorithm for actuator coordination with remote operation via HMI (Human machine Interface).
  • Control Engineering: Engineered a feedback controller to achieve speed control of a propeller with L293D IC, both in simulation and hardware implementation using PID controllers in both MATLAB and LabVIEW environment. Designed a PID controller with phase lead and phase lag and discretized it for achieving an efficient transmitting system.
