Key projects

Final year Thesis

Project name: Flexural behaviour of FRP in reinforcements

This thesis explores the potential of Fibre Reinforced Polymer (FRP) as a widely used material for reinforcing concrete in contemporary construction. Building on previous studies that highlight FRP’s effectiveness in new buildings, it considers how FRP compares to traditional steel reinforcement and examines the advantages of combining FRP with steel to enhance structural performance.

Below is an outline of the project details:

  • Lab work creating steel cages with basalt FRP and steel.
  • Making concrete blocks and testing for flexural behaviours.
  • 8k word dissertation discussing the best option of design and analysing the most optimal combinations.
  • Written calculations before and after failure.
  • Analysis of crack patterns and formations.

Second-year group project

Project name: Valencia Stadium Redesign and Construction

Successfully led a team in an innovative project to repurpose a stadium in Valencia for a new functional use, demonstrating strong leadership and project management skills. Coordinated the project by establishing clear timelines and allocating time for a thorough exploration of the stadium and its surrounding areas. Strategically assigned tasks based on each team member’s strengths, optimising productivity and collaboration within the group. This approach enabled the development of a creative and practical repurposing solution that met project goals and highlighted effective teamwork and resource management.

Below is an outline of the project details:

  • Visiting abroad to Valencia for a site survey.
  • Group meetings to coordinate workload.
  • AutoCAD drawings of floor plan.
  • Revit drawing of the 3d building.
  • Construction plan including BIM.
