Summary

I was enthusiastically involved within an adult working environment and livestock from a very early age. I was forced to take on and accept even greater responsibility when my father passed away when I was fifteen. During the couple of years, when he was ill, and leading up to his passing I grew up fast. Between then and now I have accrued a vast amount of life experience and wisdom. I now get a lot of satisfaction using these assets to help and mentor the younger people around me. I can be very outspoken and am not afraid of speaking my mind and I do not suffer fools lightly. I apply a very simple rule when I conduct myself, I treat those around me in a way I would like them to treat me.

I have compiled this document, it is the first I have ever done, not as part of a formal job application, but as a way for people to have some idea of who I am so that I may continue to contribute something for gainful return as I approach and face upto the later stages of my life and retirement.

After finishing fulltime education I embarked on a carrier within the world of British farming. A world I was born into. As a small boy and into adulthood I was never happier than when I was amongst stock. I was working self employed in all aspects of farming, animal husbandry, stockmanship, tractor driver etc. I expanded my abilities by getting involved with work allied to farming. Land drainage, agricultural building construction and concreting, and all forms of plant operation linked to this, 180 and 360 excavators, telehandlers etc. I could prepare and layout the ground ready for the erection of steel and concrete structures, cattle/grain storage sheds, silage clamps and the installation of under ground storage and drainage for run off and effluent etc. I further expanded my abilities when I passed my HGV test in 1989. this added the world of feed /fuel distribution and milk collection to my repertoire.

With the skills I learned during this time I had the confidence and ability to build my own extension on my current home during 2000 to 2002. I dug and laid the foundations with all the required drainage and pipework. I then proceeded to lay 10k facing brick with the equivalent internal block work. I did all the electrical and plumbing installation my self and then proceeded to do all the internal finishing and decorating.

I have now reached the point in my life where I want to slow down a little and enjoy time with the things that are dear to me. My growing number of grandchildren, caravanning, my love of the countryside, particularly shooting and country sports. Within this world, for the last twenty years, I have worked a team of Spaniels on local shoots which provide immense enjoyment as well a keeping me fit.
