  • Managing the Ministerial Support Unit and The Ministerial Correspondence Unit, which handle the Department's correspondence from parliamentarians, stakeholders, members of the public, other Government Departments, and foreign diplomats.
  • Being the Departmental subject matter expert for correspondence handling, advising colleagues and Ministers on policy and procedure. Ensuring cross-Government policies are adhered to in the correspondence and Write-Round process, and that classified information is handled appropriately.
  • Reviewing and adapting processes in periods of crisis to ensure key targets can still be met.
  • Responsibility for coordinating Parliamentary Debates, ensuring Minister are well briefed and are able to represent the Department
  • Advising on engagement with Parliamentarians and Parliamentary Procedure, including Primary and Secondary Legislation
  • Producing statistical performance data for internal and cross-government use.
  • Maintaining our correspondence software and working with the provider to deliver upgrades to the system, as well as delivering training to new users.
  • Line management of eight members of staff at E and D band grades.
